SOS: REFASH EXHIBIT

At the beginning of my first semester I got an email about a call for designers for an exhibit located an hour away from my hometown, looking for upcycled creations. I didn’t know much about the center, but decided to give it a shot as I think sustainability and reducing my own waste as a designer is incredibly important. In turn, SOS was created; a dystopian working woman attempting to normalize her polluted life through music.
The jacket was created fully from fabric scraps of my previous projects that I’ve saved for years in order to commit to zero textile waste in my designs. I cut them up and sandwiched them between rice paper that was then washed away to leave only the frayed scraps. The shirt is made of three old pairs of jeans, and the tie from collected soda tabs. I had so much fun creating this story line and bringing it to life.
